You can celebrate one Honda SUV for being the most reliable model in the lineup. However, this durable SUV also ranks as the most dangerous option from the automotive brand. This title isn’t stopping people from buying it.

According to iSeeCars, the Honda CR-V Hybrid is the most dangerous model in the lineup. It ranks in fifth place on the list of cars that have the most frequent occupant fatalities. 

The list includes 23 cars total and is based on the fatal accident rate per billion vehicle miles. Plus, the CR-V ranks in second place as the deadliest SUV overall. 

It has a rate of fatal accident rate of 13.2 per billion vehicle miles which is 4.6 times higher than the overall average of 2.8. However, the Hyundai Venue is the deadliest SUV with a fatal accident rate of 13.9, which is 6.3 times higher than average. 

According to U.S.News, the CR-V Hybrid has a reliability rating of 85 out of 100, which is great. Scores between 70 and 80 are average while anything between 81 and 90 is above average. It outranks the gas-powered CR-V, which earned a reliability rating of 84.  

An average Honda CR-V Hybrid model is expected to last between 250,000 to 300,000 miles with proper care and regular maintenance. However, some SUVs have surpassed 400,000 miles. 

While the 2024 CR-V is an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award winner, it fell short of the Top Safety Pick + designation. 

This Honda SUV got a Poor score for the moderate overlap front test. Improvements need to be made to the rear passenger restraints and chest protection measures. 

It earned acceptable scores for protecting the driver’s torso and pelvis. Plus, the automatic crash prevention systems only earned Acceptable scores.
