[Video] Dodge Charger spins out while attempting to do 1 idiotic donut, slams into a tree
What do you get when you mix inexperienced drivers with powerful, rear-wheel drive cars? Non-stop antics. This driver figured stabbing the throttle of his 292-horsepower Dodge Charger was a good idea. His video-taking passenger probably thought it was, too. Right up until the Charger slammed into a tree.
One minute, the six-cylinder Dodge Charger was sitting still. A moment later, it had plowed into a tree
The Dodge Charger can be an unruly beast. Before he retired, Dodge boss Tim Kuniskis and crew made sure the Charger offered as much as 807 horsepower in the SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak. Whew– that’s a name. And a half. But even at its lowest trim, the SXT, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 under the hood of the Charger was good for 292 horsepower.
Today, that doesn’t sound like much. Hell, the previous generation Toyota Camry TRD produced 301 horsepower from its 3.5 V6. It is, however, enough to break traction and send a Dodge Charger spinning into a tree. A duo of good decision-makers sat in a red Charger SXT on Steel Street in Detroit, Michigan. Their mission? Do some donuts and capture the whole thing on video. Sounds simple enough in theory, right? Not so much in execution.
However, the driver floored it and swerved right, immediately losing control of the six-cylinder Charger. He then wrenched the wheel in the opposite direction in an attempt to correct his mistake. But it was too little, too late. The ill-fated Dodge Charger speared into a tree just beside the road.
The video ends with airbag deployment and an abrupt end to the music in the Charger’s cabin. As far as damage goes, the Charger’s front end was pretty rough after the impact. Now, a typical listing price for an LD-platform 2023 Dodge Charger SXT is around $25,292. As a result, insurance might not total this one. At least it wasn’t a Hellcat. Check out the video below!
